March third I started sprouting my peas. On the tenth, they were ready
for planting.
Now, I just have to wait for May.
Evening addendum: I checked on the garden this evening, and the peas are coming up!

I just stuck mine in the ground.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many pretty blooms at your place. Looks like spring!
Thanks, it feels like spring. I checked on the peas this evening, and they have broken the surface!
ReplyDeleteokay, help me out here: you have to sprout peas before you plant them? Is it too late for me?
ReplyDeletePQ - No, pre-sprouting isn't necessary. I do it to get a jump on the growing season, and because they are slow to sprout in cold soil. But now that it's later and the soil is warmer, you should have no trouble. And if you plant them NOW, it is not too late. I start early because what peas really don't like is heat. So plant the fastest-maturing variety you can find, and hope we have some more seasonable temperatures this spring.
ReplyDeleteYay! Planting peas is my mission this weekend!
