November 2011 Compost (not Blooms)

I'm sure something was blooming on Bloom Day, but I didn't take any pictures.  I did spread some of my lovely yard waste compost over part of my veggie garden.

I made this!  (ok, my yard's organisms did, but I enabled!)

Yummy.

  1. I bought a composter last year but haven't taken it out of the box yet. So the question is, when to start composting. Now? Wait?

  2. It's always a good time to start composting! Spring yard clean-up is an especially good time, because there are lots of raw materials to make a good sized pile (or fill your composter) all at once. Pile in all the leaves that didn't get raked up in the fall, the trimmings of last year's flower stalks, weeds you've pulled (if they haven't gone to seed or won't spread in the compost). Then start burying food scraps in the pile.
